What it does

Click the extension icon, hit Pick a Price, then click any price on any webpage. The extension saves it and checks it automatically in the background. The moment the price changes, you get a desktop notification with the exact amount and percentage change — with a chime sound so you never miss a deal.

How it works

Navigate to any product page
Click the extension icon in your toolbar
Click 🎯 Pick a Price and then click the price on the page
Click ▶ Start to begin tracking
That’s it — you’ll be notified when the price changes

Privacy

This extension collects no user data. Your tracked URLs and prices are stored locally using your browser’s built-in storage. Nothing is ever sent to any server.

Permissions explained

Permission	Why it’s needed
`activeTab`	Reads the current tab only when you click “Pick a Price”
`storage`	Saves your tracked items locally on your device
`alarms`	Schedules background price checks at your chosen interval
`notifications`	Sends a desktop alert when a price changes
`scripting`	Injects the price-picker UI when you click “Pick a Price”
`offscreen`	Required for notification sound (audio needs a document context in MV3)
`host_permissions`	Fetches price pages for URLs you explicitly tracked — nothing else

Known limits

Minimum interval: 30 seconds (browser alarm API limit)
Browser must be open for checks to run — no browser, no checks
Some heavily JavaScript-rendered sites (like Amazon) may block automated fetches. The extension warns you after 5 consecutive failures
Tracking 10+ items at short intervals uses more memory and bandwidth
